THE VILLA
Villa Torre was built toward the end
of the thirties by a North European family
landowner in the Dutch East Indies that, on their
way back from there, looked for and found this place
wonderful to live in. After many ups and downs, this
property was handed over, at the end of the sixties.
Because of a pre-existent Saracen tower dating back
to ancient ages and overlooking other towers in
place, the house developed around this old
construction and was then incorporated to make up
the present edifice, as a whole. Nowadays, it still
reflects the Northern taste of former owners,
however mitigated by a careful restoration in the
early 70’. Through the reception-rooms, large
French-windows warmed by the Mediterranean light,
lead to a large terrace that overlooks the small
gulf of San Michele di Pagana where the boats moored
in symmetrical rows play with the slow break of
waves. In the ground floor, a wide and original
portico that gives access to the swimming pool and
to an enjoyable small beach, offers cool and
shelter. |
